Sustainability and Environmental practices
BEST PRACTICE
During the making process, jewellery goes through a lot of different states and stages. At Frances Kirk, we are constantly trying to find new and innovative ways to make your jewellery using more sustainable methods, without compromising on quality.
We use safety jewellers pickle (rather than the cheaper toxic option used by most). We work only with UK based suppliers who we trust and can show us evidence of their values and standards too.
WASTE
We operate a zero-waste studio and keep all scraps and offcuts for future use.
You can shop our Zero-Waste collection here.
We only purchase things that can be re-used, recycled or that can biodegrade. Occasionally, our suppliers send us plastic packaging on metals and findings, in this case, we re-use it as often as possible.
MATERIALS
Frances Kirk prides itself on our use of traceable and recycled materials.
We source only recycled silver, gold and brass for use in our pieces. When we use stones, we use reclaimed or lab-grown stones rather than new-mined.
*we are working towards using 100% recycled findings for our jewellery, we are nearly there! Only our earring scrolls are currently not made using recycled metal, but we hope to change this soon.
PACKAGING
Our packaging is all 100% recycled and recyclable or biodegradable.
Our bespoke boxes are made from recycled card, with ribbon and insert made from rPet (a material made from old plastic bottles.)
Our general packaging uses biodegradable cotton bags, recycled tissue, card and tape, and seasonal recycled ribbon.
